How It Works

If you’re interested in obtaining my editing services, the first step is to contact me with a description of your manuscript and the services you need. If our schedules align and I think I’m right for your project, I’ll review an excerpt of your manuscript (a chapter or two works well) and get back to you with my recommendations and a rate quote. I’ll also edit a sample of your manuscript for free (1000+ words). If, after receiving your free sample edit, you can’t wait to continue working with me, here’s how it works:

First, we agree on a service, a total cost, and a time slot, and I collect a deposit of $25 from you to hold the space in my calendar. Immediately before I begin working on your manuscript, I ask for half of the total cost of our agreed-on service upfront (minus the deposit), with the remainder due at the time your editing is completed. (All payments will be made online via PayPal unless otherwise arranged.)

Next, I begin editing your document. I work in Microsoft Word using the Track Changes and commenting features. (I offer different editing packages with different features—click here to learn more about the different services I offer and what they entail.)

Finally, I notify you when I have finished editing and, after your balance is paid, I return your edited manuscript to you, along with any style sheets, developmental reports, or other documents I create for you as part of the services rendered. You are welcome—in fact, strongly encouraged—to follow up with me with any questions or comments you may have.
